Subway Passport ("the app") is built to keep your data yours. This policy explains what the app accesses, why, and where it goes.
Location. When you check in, the app uses your device location to verify you're within range of a station (about 150 m). Location is used on-device for that check, and the coordinates of a stamped station are stored with that stamp in your own collection. The app does not stream your location anywhere and does not track you in the background.
Camera & Photos. If you choose to attach a photo to a check-in, the app uses the camera to take it. Check-in photos are stored in your app's private storage and, if iCloud sync is on, in your private iCloud database. Photos are never uploaded to us or any third party.
iCloud (Apple CloudKit). If you're signed into iCloud, your collection (stamps, badges, profile, and check-in photos) syncs through your private iCloud database so it follows you across your devices and survives reinstalling the app. This uses Apple's iCloud and is governed by Apple's privacy policy. We have no access to your private iCloud data.
Leaderboard (opt-in). The leaderboard is off until you explicitly join. When you join, the app publishes a single row to a shared iCloud database containing only: the username you chose, your number of stations visited, and your per-borough counts. This is visible to other players. You can leave the leaderboard at any time from the Profile screen. Don't put personal information in your username.
Everything is on your device and in your iCloud. Use Profile → Reset all data to erase every stamp, badge, and photo from the device. To remove synced data, sign out of iCloud or delete the app's data from iCloud settings. To remove your leaderboard row, contact us at the email above.
The app is rated 4+ and collects no personal information. It is not directed at children under 13 for the purpose of collecting personal data.
